I'm not sure if I'm supposed to capitalize the "D' in democrat
Last night, with the gentle prodding of my mother (who shoved both the envelope and a pen into my hands), I finally opened my vote-from-home thingy. (I think the "official" term is "absentee ballot", but we all know that I've never been one for "correct terminology"). I opened up the ballot and began skimming the form to see what I was voting for. To my surprise, Arnold was listed as one of my choices for the primary for governor. On a completely unrelated note, so was another man, whose job title was: psychologist/farmer (???). What the hell kind of person is a psychologist SLASH farmer? Anyway, I made a comment to my mom about the oddness of Arnold being on my form, as I registered as a Democrat when I was 18. My mom, who was also puzzled, asked me, "Did I give you Dad's form by accident?". We searched and searched until we found the name of the ballot’s recipient - my name. Apparently, somewhere along the way, I became a registered Republican. For years, it seems, I have been living my life falsely; claiming publicly to be a Democrat, while hiding my true, secret political identity so deeply that even I was fooled. Now, in the aftermath of last night, I feel betrayed. I feel violated. I feel like I don't even know who I am anymore. I can't help but wonder what other secrets I've been keeping from myself.

You know...you're allowed to vote for a rebublican even if you're registered as a democrat. It's not like your registration status limits you to "those" candidates. Is that what you're trying to say? If not, I'm totally confused.
Or...it was a list of who you should vote for? I really don't get this post at all and it's stressing me out.
I know that I can vote for a republican even as a registered democrat. The issue, I think, is that as a registered republican, I get to vote in the primaries for republican candidates who will go for governor. When it all comes down to it, I don't give a shit who was on the ballot because I'll never get around to mailing it in. I just think it's funny that I'm a republican now.
