an old abandoned church with broken pews and empty aisles

sick of the phone

Today my phone has been ringing non-stop. Well, non-stop is clearly an exaggeration, but, really, the damn thing has already rung far too many times for my patience. I’m not in the mood to answer it today, and I really wish everyone would stop calling. Its shrill ring in my ears is causing me to grit my teeth and silently curse whoever is on the other end.

I’m especially frustrated with one person who calls me repeatedly. All the time. First on the home phone, then on the cell phone. An hour or two later, on the home phone, then the cell phone. I am feeling incredibly smothered. I didn’t ask for this.

Sometimes I simply want to be alone.

Today I worked on my lesson plans for my takeover. I also went out to coffee and shopping with Courtney, did some just-for-fun reading, watched Sex and the City, completed the readings for two of my three classes, and wrote a reflection paper. And I ignored the phone.

Right now I need a good cry. Perhaps I’ll settle for a glass of wine.

Phew. I thought that maybe you were indirectly referencing ME. I know you love it when I hang up with you, remember something else, and call you right back! At least it prods you to be creative in your phone answering skills:) Cornerstone next week? I skipped church today because I'm going to help the sister get ready for Baby Roman's birthday party.

I live in an apartment, and 3 out of every 4 phonecalls we get is from some credit card company or bank that is trying to collect money from a guy who hasn't lived here in over two years. The phone sucks sometimes.
